DANCE FOUNDATIONS WITH A FOCUS ON HAIDA DANCE& SONG 11/12 TEACHER GidGalang Kuuyas Naay Secondary School An employment opportunity exists for a CONTINUING Part-Time (0.143 FTE) Dance Foundations with a Focus on Haida Dance & Song 11/12 Teacher effective as soon as possible at GidGalang Kuuyas Naay Secondary School. Requirements: Demonstrated knowledge of Haida dance, song and protocol. A university teaching major, or its equivalent, directly related to the teaching position; Understanding and being committed to the calls to action of the Truth and Reconciliation commission, including the eradication of existing and persistent equity gaps for specific groups of children; High level of skills related to successful classroom management, and to the development and maintenance of a positive classroom climate; Experience with multi-grade classes an asset; Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, instruct and evaluate learning activities for students’ strengths and for their academic, social, emotional and behavioural needs; Assume responsibility for the development and execution of Individual Education Plans and Behaviour Support Plans; Knowledge of school-based teams; Demonstrated ability in creating safe inclusive learning environments where students are connected, supported, engaged and challenged; Proven interpersonal skills, work ethic and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students, teachers, education assistants, parents and administrators; Understanding of local resources and environment; Teacher Regulation Branch certification.
